It’s Official–I’m an Instructional Technology Specialist! September 28, 2008

Well last Friday was my last day in the classroom and I left with such bittersweet emtotions– excited to begin a new chapter in my career, but very sad to leave “my kids”.   I am very thankful that I took with me so many wonderful memories– memories that I will cherish forever.  It’s kind of weird not having a classroom filled with students, and calling an office “home”, but it’s all good, and I am very happy with my decision.

So Monday I started in my new position as an Instructional Technology Specialist.  Yep, that’s me! I have to admit, though, I found myself looking around each time someone would introduce me as the new “ITS”–guess it will get some getting used to!!  I feel so very fortunate to have been given this opportunity  and I just want to take a minute to thank someone who touched my life for 13 years and I believe had a role in securing me this opportunity-THANKS Monica!  Anyone who knows me knows how important Monica was in my life. I first met Monica hen she was just 3 years old and I was asked to be her home tutor, since she was to fragile to attend a school program.  Our relationship quickly turned into a friendship, sharing a bond that was filled with love. When Monica passed away last year at the of 16 in many ways, for me, it was a blessing, for her suffering had ended and I believed she was at peace, finally in a place that would allow her to run and talk and play and smile.  I also knew that if there were angels– I now had one, named Monica.  Fast forward to the night of my interview for the Instructional Technology Specialist position– as I walked into the conference room for my interview and Iooked over at the table, much to my surprise I saw my friend, my angel, my Monica.  I’m not what you’d call a religious or spiritual person, but I believe that Monica was with me during the interview and that she had a part in giving me this opportunity.  Love you Monica and thanks for helping me believe that dreams can come true!

You sound thrilled with your change of career but then I think a change does invigorate us as people and the challenges that are new can really motivate us. Plus as a regular visitor to this site I know that you would have a huge amount of expertise to share which will benefit many.

Thanks for your comments- it warmed my heart to read them!

Skip– Don’t worry too much, I’m sure you’ll receive your SMART Certification and I believe that change will also be knocking at your door soon. I had a little talk with my angel, Monica….

Mr. Webbb- I still am hoping to be able to work with you once I get my feet wet and then planted in my new position.

You both be well and thank you for your continued support and friendship.
