I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited. I just learned that I won the Blog Contest that Lon Thornburg from No Limits to Learning sponsored. WOW– I feel like the Boston Celtics did this week when they won the NBA Finals! The most amazing part of being selected the winner is that my classroom will receive free software from Learning Magic, thanks to the generosity of Byron Wilkes. His act of kindness reminded me of a George Elliston quote- “How beautiful a day can be…when kindness touches it!”
I am so thankful to Mr. Wilkes for this unbelievable act of kindess. This software will be a welcomed addition to our curriculum. It’s already in my plan book for September! So again, I just want to send a HUGE
from myself and my students to both Lon and Mr. Wilkes for making this amazing opportunity available to my classroom. And please check back this fall for updated posts when I’ll be sure to share our experiences utilizing this wonderful software.

Congratulations on your award win.
I think that using a interactive whiteboard with special education classroom is a simply awesome idea. We’re only getting a couple into our mainstream classrooms here in New Zealand and the attatched special needs classroom here is currently renovating their room so its not a current option but I really rate your blog from the looks of it you’ve got some great ideas! Arent all the students in the US on holidays at the moment?

Thanks! The SMARTBoard has been an amazing addition to our classroom- it truly allows many students the opportunity to be an active participant in class activities, accessing the currciculum.
And yes we are on our summer break-YEAH!!
Thanks for stopping by- nice to meet you!

I spoke today with our special needs classrooms and they’re quite keen to maybe swap some videos later in the year but obviously with your students on summer break it might have to wait a while… I am not sure what they know about America but when I get a moment free from my classroom I will go and talk to them and see…

Its all sorted. We’ve got the school holidays for the next two weeks. They finish on July 21st of July (the 21st is the Monday and the first week back. The Room 4 (that’s our special needs class) are going to come and visit here early next term and then make some videos introducing themselves. And I guess well take it from there. I realise that your students are all on holiday for some time (until September) but that’s not too far away…
