Jemma Leech- ABC Person of the Week April 5, 2008

Last evening I was busy in the kitchen when my husband yelled to me ”honey, come quick, you have to see this little girl on the news”. When I looked at the screen there I saw Jemma Leech, The ABC Person of the Week, a beautiful 10 year old girl, who had beat out 1,600 kids in an essay contest (the unanimous vote of all the judges). An amazing accomplishment in itself, but even more remarkable when you meet this young lady and learn that she has CP and communicates her thoughts using a xylophone stick to activate letters on a touch screen. Seeing this story once again reinforced my strong belief that it is our responsibility as teachers to always believe…
Here is a link to Jemma’s story.
